CRRT & PLEX

CRRT stands for Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy. It is a type of dialysis used primarily in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury or severe fluid overload. Unlike intermittent dialysis, which is typically performed several times a week, CRRT is administered continuously over a 24-hour period. This continuous approach helps to manage fluid balance and remove waste products more gently and effectively for patients who cannot tolerate the rapid fluid shifts and high-intensity treatment of conventional dialysis.

PLEX stands for Plasma Exchange, also known as plasmapheresis. It is a medical procedure used to remove harmful substances from the plasma portion of the blood. The procedure involves separating the plasma from the rest of the blood components, then replacing it with a substitute, such as donor plasma or a plasma substitute solution.
